چکیده

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect an early application potassium (K) fertilizer on pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) grown during fall/winter performance maize (Zea mays silage in succession. Using a randomized block design, harvest, plots were composed and six doses K (0, 30, 60, 90, 120 150 kg K2O ha-1) as muriate potash (57% K2O) addition fallow. In summer cultivation maize, applied complementary autumn/winter harvest total ha-1 (120, 0) 0 for no cover treatment. An additional treatment that planted received recommended fertilization amount (60 90 planting broadcasting, respectively). For millet, evaluated plant height, green dry biomass yields, soil at days after . agronomic traits, leaf nutrient content yields evaluated. did not alter yield components maize. However, straw produced by efficient promoting off-season.

Early maize (Zea mays L.) cultivation in Mexico: dating sedimentary pollen records and its implications.

A sedimentary pollen sequence from the coastal plain of Veracruz, Mexico, demonstrates maize cultivation by 5,000 years ago, refining understanding of the geography of early maize cultivation. Methodological issues related to bioturbation involved in dating that record combine with its similarity to a pollen sequence from the coastal plain of Tabasco, Mexico, to suggest that the inception of ma...

Effect of maize silage to grass silage ratio and feed particle size on ruminal fermentation in vitro.

The effect of the forage source on ruminal fermentation in vitro was investigated for fine (F) and coarse (C) milled diets, using a modified Hohenheim gas production test and a semi-continuous rumen simulation technique (Rusitec). It was hypothesised that the replacement of maize silage by grass silage might lead to associative effects and that interactions related to particle size variation co...
